The first and best automotive + glamour photography educational seminar in the United States is back for its third installment – now in Dallas on March 24-25, 2018 at the amazing and massive RAC Performance! Learn from touring photographers Alex Ventura & Nino Batista (both senior writers for Fstoppers) regarding their approach to shooting and retouching automotive and glamour photography. - 3:00 PM – Intro to the seminar and shooting automotive & glamour photography.In-depth talks about the business and marketing with the instructors followed by shooting demonstrations with Alex Ventura and Nino Batista.
- 4:00 PM – Model intro followed by shooting demonstration with instructors. Attendees will be divided into two groups and paired with each instructor.
- 6:00 PM – Lunch (provided)
- 7:00 PM – Instructional demonstration continues, the instructors will swap groups.
- 9:00 PM – Conclusion
Sunday – Instructional and hands-on shooting
- 1:00 PM till 6:00 PM – Multiple rotating shooting stations will be set up and attendees will be divided into small groups to help and assist each other. Additional models may be present during this time and will rotate between sets.
Each attendee will be given an instructional packet from the instructors and a swag bag with goodies from the seminar sponsors. Meals during the seminar each day will be included in your seminar fee. In-depth retouching video and photoshop actions will be provided after the seminar.
What Should I Bring?
Bring a positive attitude that’s willing and ready to learn! That’s a given but bring your DSLR camera with you along with standard size hot shoe adapter for flash triggers if your camera requires one (Sony users). For the shootout portion of the seminar, we will have some gear on location for you to use but we also recommend bringing your own lighting equipment to use.
While some house gear will be available for attendee’s use, it is recommended that attending photographers bring their own lighting equipment as well. Strobe flashes of any brand, along with triggering systems and modifiers you wish to use. Please note, large scale, multiple light setups are not required, recommended or allowed, as space and safety considerations around the exotic cars is a priority. Larger setups also take up much more time to configure. More complex lighting setups will be demonstrated at the seminar for you to get hands-on use with, but it is not necessary for each attendee to bring their entire studio system to the event.
Lenses – You can bring any lens you may own, however, this is what we suggest.
- We recommend bringing a zoom lens that is capable of 30-50 mm in length. 24-70 mm or 24-105 mm are ideal for full frames. 18-55 mm or greater is recommended for crop sensor cameras.
- We recommend bringing a prime lens. More specifically an 85 mm if you have one, if you are on a crop sensor camera we suggest a 50 mm prime lens.
The fee covers 1 photographer to attend. Non-shooting assistants are not allowed at this event. The images you shoot will be on a Promo Release agreement for portfolio use only. There are no refunds or credits for photographers that sign up and then cannot make the event. There are no refunds or credits for photographers who cannot find the property. Be sure to contact the organizers if you have any questions.
IMPORTANT: Professional behavior and courtesy are expected at all times from all attendees. Any inappropriate behavior from an attendee can result in being ejected from the event with no refund. Please respect all modeling talent, venue property, house equipment, and other attendees. Any damage caused to venue property by an attendee will be the attendee’s responsibility. No illegal substances, weapons or video equipment are allowed at any event.
Non-paid assistants are not allowed at events unless otherwise stated in the event description.
There are no refunds or credits offered for any attendee who cannot locate the venue/location of the event. There are no refunds or credits offered for any attendee who chooses not to or cannot attend after registering.
We cannot “hold” spots for anyone. If a down payment is offered for an event, the down payment is not refundable once paid.
“Workshops” and “Master Classes” are instructor-led, and set up as formal training courses, whereas “Shoot Outs” are free-form shooting events, with no instructional curriculum; please note some events can be both. Instruction is given only in English at Workshops and Master Classes.
Some events are at outdoor locations (patios/pools, deserts, mountains, rural fields, abandoned buildings, etc) and are “shoot at your own risk”. All reasonable efforts are made to ensure safety precautions are considered at all events, but please note Nino Batista cannot be held responsible for any damage to an attendee’s photography equipment at an event or injury to an attendee due to a misadventure while on site.
